Welcome to CarmGlass.com! I am a stained glass artist in the Ohio, USA. Feel free to contact me for commissions, or browse the variety of glass work I currently have in stock.
I am 44 years old, and I have been cutting glass about 5 years. Originally, I made geometric, "Prarie"-style leaded stained glass panes to repair my own windows in my home, and just about every home in my district of Toledo. Since this city used to be the "Glass Capital of the World", every home has stained glass.
Currently, I use the "Tiffany style foil-wrap" method for creating my panes. I prefer the "Tiffany" method as it offers greater flexibility. (As compared to lead, which is toxic and expensive to dispose of.) I started to become interested in stained glass as modern art form, and I started using animals as a theme. I started making cats after my veterinarian gave me two postcards of cats and put me to the task of creating them for his office. (Then he went out of business leaving me 'holding the cats'. They are available here for sale if you are interested!)
I am self-taught and consider myself a perpetual student of this art. I am available for commissions. I average about one pane per month due to the large sizes I'm working with and their detail. I favor strong colors as you can see from the selected pieces. I love particularly love depicting animals in action poses, but will still happily show them in a more relaxed pose. Have you ever wanted a stained glass representation of your pet? I will assemble many different subjects - plants, planets, geometric patterns, though I have found human images do not transfer well at all, without a great deal of painting over the glass. I leave such tasks to other artists, as that is not my interest. (I'll leave the painting to the painters!)
